Roxanne Tyroch

She is the founder and owner of Intellimedicine, PA, a primary care practice in El Paso, Texas, and serves on the Private Practice Physicians Section (PPPS) Governing Council of the American Medical Association (AMA). Tyroch is known for her long-standing clinical work, advocacy for independent medical practice, and leadership roles in professional medical organizations.[1][2][3]
Early life and education
Tyroch grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, where she attended St. Louis the King Elementary and Middle School and Bourgade High School. She later attended Arizona State University with an emphasis in nursing before being accepted to medical school. During her college years, she completed full-time coursework while working nearly full-time at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the labor and delivery unit and later in the newborn nursery.
Her father, Donald Bernard Richards, was originally from Cleveland, Ohio, and her mother, Bertha Chavez, was from San Antonio, Texas. She has two brothers and one sister. As a child, she was actively engaged in hobbies such as dance and playing the guitar. Her father passed away shortly after she was accepted to medical school.
Tyroch earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson in 1991. She completed her internal medicine internship and residency at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center (now Banner Health) and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Phoenix, where she served as chief resident. She is board-certified in internal medicine and currently holds a medical license in Texas.
Career
Clinical medicine
After completing her residency in internal medicine at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Phoenix, where she served as chief resident, Tyroch began her clinical career in Fresno, California, practicing within the largest primary care group in the region at the time. She remained in Fresno for approximately two years.
She then moved to El Paso, Texas, in 1997, where both she and her husband served as assistant professors at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. During her tenure, she rose to the rank of Associate Professor before transitioning in 2005 to an academic contract position at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in the Department of Internal Medicine.
In 2007, she shifted her focus toward family responsibilities and began working as a locum tenens physician with rural hospitals throughout Texas through Concord Medical Group, as well as providing contract care at long-term care facilities in El Paso. Due to the demands of travel while raising young children, she later transitioned to a part-time hospitalist role in 2009 with the Hospitalists Group of El Paso at Tenet Hospitals.
In 2014, after the expiration of a non-compete clause, Tyroch established Intellimedicine, PA, where she continues to serve as the primary physician.
Intellimedicine, PA is a primary care clinic emphasizing the integration of modern technology with personalized patient care. The practice offers preventive and diagnostic services and incorporates cash-basis virtual health solutions through Galaxy Health, a company she also founded to provide individuals with affordable visits. Galaxy Health also serves organizations and businesses with employee health services and leadership consulting.
Tyroch has more than 34 years of clinical experience.
Affiliations
Tyroch has a long history of involvement with organized medicine. She served for her hospital in Fresno, California, on the Organized Medical Staff Service at the American Medical Association from 1995 to 1997.
She became active in the Texas Medical Association in 2006, serving on the Patient Physician Advocacy Committee from 2006 to 2012 and later as chair. She served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Medical Foundation Health Quality Institute from 2009 to 2012. From 2013 to 2019, she was a member of the Council on Legislation, followed by service on the Council on Constitution and Bylaws from 2019 to 2025, where she served as chair.
She also served on the Texas Medical Association Ad Hoc Committee on Independent Practice from 2022 to 2024 and continues to serve on the Committee on Independent Physician Practice.
Tyroch served as the fourth female president of the El Paso County Medical Society in its 130-year history.
She has been a Texas delegate to the American Medical Association since 2014, where she has authored and supported resolutions on physician loan forgiveness during COVID-19, physician payment updates, out-of-network coverage, healthcare consolidation, claims filing policies, and payer communication standards.
She is serving in her second term as member-at-large on the Governing Council of the Private Practice Physicians Section of the American Medical Association (2022–present) and is the first physician from Texas appointed to the AMA Conduct Committee.
Tyroch is active in the American College of Physicians, serving on the Texas Chapter Board of Directors since 2023 and on the national Mastership Committee. She is the immediate past chair of the Texas Chapter Health and Public Policy Committee and has participated in legislative advocacy, including providing testimony on scope-of-practice issues. She was awarded the Bluebonnet Award in 2023 for supporting the professional development of women.
She also serves the Lone Star Caucus of the Texas Medical Association, where she progressed from Candidate Committee Chair in 2019 to Vice Chair and later Co-Chair beginning in 2023.
In 2025, she became certified in Positive Leadership through Jon Gordon Companies and provides training to organizations on leadership and culture.
She has also participated in national policy discussions, including legislative panels and regulatory listening sessions related to telemedicine and controlled substances, contributing perspectives on patient care and access.
Media appearances
Tyroch appeared as a panelist on the PBS program Vaccines: Defend What Matters (Season 26, Episode 6), alongside Alison Days, Joel Hendryx, and Hector Ocaranza-Flores. The episode focused on vaccine education, public health advocacy, and addressing common concerns regarding immunizations. She was also involved in the development of a PBS program titled “Vaccines Matter” in 2023.
